Qingdao's processing trade value up 19.5% in Jan

The import and export value of processing trade in Qingdao, Shandong Province grew 19.5% year on year to US$1.6 billion in January, accounting for 39.3% of the city's total import and export value, according to statistics from the Qingdao Customs.

The export value of processing trade amounted to US$1.11 billion, up 6.5% from a year ago, and accounts for 47% of the city's total exports, while the import value of processing trade surged 65.3% to US$490 million, accounting for 28.5% of the city's total imports.

The total value of imported materials for processing was US$360 million in January, and the export value from the imported materials amounted to US$870 million.

High-tech products have seen rapid growth in the processing trade in Qingdao, and exports to emerging markets are playing a more important role in the city's foreign trade, said analysts.
