Changzhou's foreign trade value up 37% in Jan

The total foreign trade value of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province amounted to US$1.54 billion in January, up 37.3% year on year, sources reported.

The value of exports rose 20.4% from a year earlier to US$1.09 billion, while that of imports increased to US$450 million, up 107.3%.

Exports of 50 key enterprises surged 44.2% year on year to US$430 million in January, and contributed 14.4 percentage points in the city's growth in the month.

The export value of hi-tech electronic products amounted to US$240 million during the period, up 125.6% from a year ago, while that of mechanical and electronic products hit US$580 million, up 26.2% year on year.

ASEAN surpassed Japan to become the third largest export market of the city in January. Exports to the EU reached US$330 million in the month, up 37% year on year.

The city also saw rapid growth in equipment import by the foreign-invested companies, which jumped 224% to US$37.62 million in January.
