Hainan to build petrochemical production, storage base
2010-03-09 14:03:45

Hainan Province plans to spend around RMB 5 billion in total to build several oil depots and petrochemical production bases in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone, said Wang Jiquan, a member of National People's Congress, at the 11th National People's Congress.

Yangpu, which currently has a refinery with an annual refining capacity of 8 million tons, will be home to a 1.2-million ton terephthalic acid or TPA project, a 1.2-million ethylene project and a 3-million ton sikkim project in the near future, said Wang.

Wei Liucheng, secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China, said that Yangpu, as one of the six innovative petrochemical bases in China, will be built into a large hub for the transportation and storage of petroleum.
