Hong Kong tops China's urban real estate competitiveness list
2010-02-08 14:32:40

Hong Kong's overall performance has been rated the highest in real estate competitiveness, real estate price index and other aspects, according to the "2009 China Urban Competitiveness top 100 List" jointly issued by China Urban Competitiveness Study and China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce on February 4, 2010.

According to Hong Kong's Wen Wei Po, this report summarizes 2009 data to conduct a comprehensive analysis of China's real estate including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The study covers related areas including urban real estate competitiveness, outlook, real estate enterprise strength, commercial properties, shopping malls and other areas.

Gui Qiangfang, president of China Urban Competitiveness Study said that Hong Kong has become quite well developed, so it tops in many areas among Chinese cities and has a strong competitive advantage. However, he also pointed out that, due to the development of Hong Kong its property market has been basically completed so there may be limited room for further development. He therefore believes that the future development potential and real estate price increase will not be as strong as in the mainland.

In fact, among the top ten most potential cities and cities with the strongest buyers confidence, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other first-tier cities are not in the top ten. Gui Qiangfang thinks that second-tier and third-tier cities will have much more potential in urban property development in the future.
