| China, Myanmar to build oil pipeline |
China National Petroleum Corporation and Myanmar's Ministry of Energy have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a pipeline for crude oil. This is China's fourth trans-border pipeline constructed to bring oil into the country, as part of efforts ensure energy security in the country.
As much as half of China's oil consumption relies on imports. And last year saw the country bring in 180 million tons of fuel. The pipeline with Myanmar is designed to have an annual capacity of 22 million tons. Construction is due to start in September. |
