Singapore, China to screen first collaborative subway drama

The first Singapore-China subway drama will be broadcast simultaneously in both countries, reaching out to over 15 million daily commuters, Singapore's Media Development Authority (MDA) said on Monday.

The drama, a Starry Night, will be screened on subway trains and stations in Singapore as well as seven Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Tianjing, Nanjing, Shenzhen and HongKong, according to a statement by the MDA.

The subway drama is slated for debut in the second half of 2009,and is expected to be screened on at least 16,452 television displays, targeting a daily 1.4 million passenger trips in Singapore and a captive audience of 14 million commuters in China.

The drama centers on the love story of a Singaporean singer and a young man from Shanghai who comes to Singapore to pursue his studies and music aspirations. Through the young man, the Singaporean sees her hometown with a fresh pair of eyes.

The drama is co-produced by the MDA, Singapore media company Ufinity and Chinese company Prime Time Entertainment.
